About Wrinkle Relaxers
Showing off a beautiful smile can lead to developing dynamic wrinkles on areas of the face like the forehead and cheeks. However, injectable wrinkle relaxers can temporarily smooth the facial muscles that cause smile lines, frown lines, and other wrinkles. Board-certified dentist, Dr. Stacie Calian, offers injectable wrinkle treatments using purified Botulinum Toxin (Type A), like BOTOX Cosmetic and Dysport to allow her Smile Design Dental Spa patients in Mount Kisco and Brewster, NY to enjoy their dazzling smile without worrying about getting wrinkles.

What to Expect
Before the injection, patients should inform their doctor about any prescription medications, over-the-counter medicines, supplements, or minerals they are taking to ensure there are no known complications or concerns. Injections take about 5 – 15 minutes and are usually done without anesthesia, but a numbing cream or local anesthesia to improve patient comfort. Injectable wrinkle relaxers usually last 3 – 6 months, so touch up appointments should be discussed and scheduled before the patient leaves the office.
After the injection, patients are able to return to their normal routine, but they are encouraged to avoid exercise and strenuous activity for 24 hours. Patients may notice some temporary redness and inflammation at the injection sites, but this should be mild and resolve on its own within a few days. After the procedure, patients should avoid laying down, as well as touching or massaging the treated area to prevent the injection from spreading to other areas.
Injectatable wrinkle treatments usually cost around $300 – $1000, but this can vary greatly depending on the patient's goals and the amount of BOTOX or Dysport used during the procedure. Cosmetic injections are usually not covered by insurance, but it may be covered if the treatment is used for medical reasons, such as temporomandibular joint disorder (TMJ).
